XRR FIT REPORT Template from "Mastering XRR Fitting", Chapter 23. Fill every slot. Write "none" or "not done" where it applies; never leave a slot empty. Lengths in angstrom (A), densities in g/cm3, angles in degrees and labeled 2theta or theta. Program: X-Ray Calc ______ (version and build from the status bar) Date of the fit: __________ Who fitted: __________ THE MEASUREMENT 1. Measurement: sample name, measurement file, instrument. The limits table used (its name and date) and the substrate. 2. theta_max and I_max of the plateau; the background level. From an .xrdml file: the peak count rate and the counting time. The highest visible order divided by I_max. If there are more floored points than visible orders: say that R min is a floor you chose, not one you measured. 3. The sensitivity map: one line per variant, the feature it moves. THE MODEL AND THE DATA 4. The starting model: every layer with H, sigma, rho; N of each stack. 5. The scale: how the curve was normalized (Data > Normalize ...); whether the scale was solved in chi2, its window, and the solved factor at the end (Chart Info bar: "solved x..."); clamped or not. 6. Smoothing: none, or how many passes and why. 7. R min, and how it was chosen. 8. The fitting range (2theta), and the reason for its upper end. THE SETTINGS 9. Delta-theta, and the chi2 scan that chose it; the fringe contrast beside it as a check. 10. The chi2 settings: PW chi2 on or off; the theta weighting (TW chi2). 11. Population, iterations, Shake, SeedR; the number of runs. (A GUI run starts from a random seed and can't be repeated exactly.) THE FIT 12. The mode: Periodic and Polynomial, both fitted, with both chi2 and their spreads; the period drift and its spread; which one is reported and why; the polynomial order and its coefficients. 13. The limits as first set and as finally used; every limit widened, and the value that forced it. 14. The saved project of every run (file names). 15. chi2 of the starting model and of the reported fit. 16. The fitted structure (the run with the lowest chi2, never a mean): the period; each layer's H and sigma with the spread over the runs; each density as "free parameter, not a result"; every parameter whose spread exceeds your precision limit as undetermined, without a number; layers reported as a sum where the split is undetermined; for a Polynomial fit, the value in every period. 17. Every value on a limit or within 5 % of one, and what was done: the limit widened and the fit repeated, or, for a density at its bulk ceiling, the reason it was not. THE CHECKS AND THE VERDICT (Result > Fit report ... > Copy as text) 18. The order table: each visible order, calculated / measured. 19. The edge check (three points) and the fringe check. 20. The residual by band: the mean in each band. 21. The verdict, criterion by criterion, with the curves each limit was calibrated on. A fail is a result: report it. 22. The saved project name of the reported fit, and the exported fit results (Result > Export fit results...).
